In case you can't tell, she is roaring in response to "Go Tigers!" Now if we can only teach her to say "Who Dat!"<br /><br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dy9M9XpSPh6OQxKlHZeJs6dKObKHJAM0Z6SfNS5cMMo5i7OJXqeRUWf71a9t51OEeNltGbJqx4pgiCrBKdIjw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-60215675184403458042009-05-30T15:21:00.000-05:002009-09-07T15:34:33.775-05:00Summer Fun<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVtTKmPPXI/AAAAAAAAAUk/52uXOg3A8bY/s1600-h/5-31-09+015.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVtTKmPPXI/AAAAAAAAAUk/52uXOg3A8bY/s320/5-31-09+015.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378825505993604466" border="0" /></a><br />Well, three days after her first birthday, Cate took her first steps! We are excited (and scared) to have a walker. For the most part, Cate will now walk at home, but she is very cautious about walking in public and still often prefers to be carried. One of her favorite places to go right now is the zoo. She has really started to see the animals and particularly likes the sea lions and the giraffes.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Cate waiting to get into the zoo (and loving that she is wearing a hat!).<br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVs0UjNcZI/AAAAAAAAAUE/7l9pqjD9Lws/s1600-h/5-22-09+Cakki+040.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVs0UjNcZI/AAAAAAAAAUE/7l9pqjD9Lws/s320/5-22-09+Cakki+040.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378824976089313682" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Cate enjoying the sea lions.<br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVs9O3_I_I/AAAAAAAAAUU/2VUyqCwycr8/s1600-h/5-22-09+Cakki+054.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVs9O3_I_I/AAAAAAAAAUU/2VUyqCwycr8/s320/5-22-09+Cakki+054.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378825129184666610" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Cate and Mommy<br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVs5IWhofI/AAAAAAAAAUM/nZO0ZCiY1fw/s1600-h/5-22-09+Cakki+048.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVs5IWhofI/AAAAAAAAAUM/nZO0ZCiY1fw/s320/5-22-09+Cakki+048.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378825058714231282" border="0" /></a><br />Cate also recently had her first bubble bath...I can't say that this was a great success as she was more interested in eating the bubbles than playing with them. This is a constant source of annoyance to Ford, as Cate now tries to steal his ball all the time. Also, Ford doesn't think that Cate throws it far enough, so he usually pouts until someone else picks it up and throws it again. However, Cate is not discouraged by this and keeps trying!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVtdzAxQ8I/AAAAAAAAAUs/zSBGfFY8nmc/s1600-h/5-31-09+021.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVtdzAxQ8I/AAAAAAAAAUs/zSBGfFY8nmc/s320/5-31-09+021.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378825688640996290" border="0" /></a>Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-72428956896211578962009-05-18T15:01:00.000-05:002009-09-07T15:15:41.402-05:00Happy 1st Birthday Cate!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVoCRYk1HI/AAAAAAAAATc/aFcJSZquHAg/s1600-h/5-19-09+068+cropped.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SqVoCRYk1HI/AAAAAAAAATc/aFcJSZquHAg/s320/5-19-09+068+cropped.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378819718199432306" border="0" /></a>Cate turned one year old on May 16, 2009. We made several trips to the Louisiana Children's Museum during our stay, as it was located just a block away from the hotel. The LCM has a great toddler's area with lots of soft blocks for the kids to climb on, slides, and even a "Goodnight Moon" area.<br /><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/Sly7abwmNqI/AAAAAAAAASc/DM6NvwWvfpQ/s1600-h/4-17-09+044.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/Sly7abwmNqI/AAAAAAAAASc/DM6NvwWvfpQ/s320/4-17-09+044.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358363719466628770" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/Sly7PX_xrVI/AAAAAAAAASU/KpsqKHY_srY/s1600-h/4-17-09+042.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/Sly7PX_xrVI/AAAAAAAAASU/KpsqKHY_srY/s320/4-17-09+042.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358363529477991762" border="0" /></a><br />Of course, we were glad to get back home so that Cate could get back to practicing her newest skill - standing up!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/Sly72ZY_kQI/AAAAAAAAASk/pXzTt9wxD84/s1600-h/4-17-09+028.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/Sly72ZY_kQI/AAAAAAAAASk/pXzTt9wxD84/s320/4-17-09+028.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358364199867093250" border="0" /></a>Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-32338693317549990272009-03-17T11:48:00.000-05:002009-07-14T11:56:35.506-05:00Happy St. Patrick's Day!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/Sly4RugQ9dI/AAAAAAAAAR0/9K5KpSFUt-Q/s1600-h/5-19-09+013.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/Sly4RugQ9dI/AAAAAAAAAR0/9K5KpSFUt-Q/s320/5-19-09+013.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358360271344694738" border="0" /></a><br />Cate celebrated St. Patrick's Day by wearing her shamrock dress and "Kiss Me" socks. After numerous rounds of antibiotics failed to remedy the situation, our pediatrician referred Cate to an ENT (ear, nose, and throat doctor) who advised us that Cate would most likely need tubes put in her ears. Basically, Cate has all of the risk factors for chronic ear infections: prematurity, small size, reflux, and a parent (Allison) with an extensive history of ear problems. The purpose of the tubes would be to help the fluid trapped behind her eardrums drain and hopefully prevent future ear infections. By mid-February, Cate's ears had gotten so bad that the fluid in her ears was seriously compromising her ability to hear (remember how she sleep through a Mardi Gras parade?), so we scheduled her to have tubes put in on March 11. John and I were both confident that this was the right thing to do, but it is still scary when your not-quite-ten-month-old baby has to have surgery.<br /><br />On the morning of March 11, John, Cate, and I arrived at Children's Hospital at 6 a.m. Cate was pretty confused as to why we were up and out of the house so early, but she was surprisingly well behaved considering that we couldn't feed her anything. Since Cate was the ENT's youngest patient that day, she got to go first. The nurses gave her a sedative (which they called goofy juice). At first, Cate got fussy and seemed to dislike the way she feeling, but after a few minutes, the sedative REALLY kicked in and Cate got very relaxed. She basically let us cuddle her while she lazily blew bubbles.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SbkjBMB5r_I/AAAAAAAAARg/5VwQE7FLVPw/s1600-h/3-12-09+004.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SbkjBMB5r_I/AAAAAAAAARg/5VwQE7FLVPw/s320/3-12-09+004.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312315738776252402" border="0" /></a>After a few minutes, the nurse came to take Cate back to surgery. As the nurse wheeled Cate away, Cate showed us that (despite the sedative) she was still her busy self as she stuck one leg up in the air and waved her foot around.<br /><br />John and I were only in the waiting room for about twenty minutes before the ENT came out to let us know that the surgery went well. Shortly after that, the nurses took us to the recovery area where Cate was in the process of waking up. She was pretty annoyed about how the anesthesia made her feel and about having an IV in her foot, but after about 15 minutes she started settling back down to her normal self (although she still looked a little dopey).<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SbkjOwj5swI/AAAAAAAAARo/4Se81XOz4mQ/s1600-h/3-12-09+005.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SbkjOwj5swI/AAAAAAAAARo/4Se81XOz4mQ/s320/3-12-09+005.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312315971920835330" border="0" /></a>We were out of the hospital by 9:30 am and spent the rest of the day at home playing.<br /></div>Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-6834257793365848472009-03-06T09:35:00.000-06:002009-03-12T09:43:30.548-05:00Beach Trip, March 2009<div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/Sbkdy-d96dI/AAAAAAAAAQw/EsxGNZGhhYU/s1600-h/3-5-09+008.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/Sbkdy-d96dI/AAAAAAAAAQw/EsxGNZGhhYU/s320/3-5-09+008.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312309997059566034" border="0" /></a>During the first week of March, Cate and Allison went to the beach with Cakki (Allison's mom) and Aunt Chelsea. Yes, Cate is now officially crawling. She has been working towards it for several weeks now, employing various techniques including commando crawling, rolling, and creeping, but she finally figured out how to coordinate her arms and legs. We are both excited and terrified, as the house is not remotely child-proofed.<br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SaAnEJx497I/AAAAAAAAAPY/aTVZ447kx_A/s1600-h/2-21-09+008.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SaAnEJx497I/AAAAAAAAAPY/aTVZ447kx_A/s320/2-21-09+008.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5305283313340577714" border="0" /></a>In other news, Cate continues to be on the petite side. At her last doctor's appointment (February 11, 2009), her stats were:<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Height: 25.5 Inches (5%)<br />Weight: 13 pounds, 15 ounces (<5%)<br />Head Circumference: 42.5 cm (5 - 10%) </div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Overall, Cate is a healthy and happy baby. In fact, the two things people in public comment on the most are her size (a woman at Whole Foods actually called her Thumbelina) and the fact that she seems so happy. She loves to go in public and smile at people and (more importantly) she loves it when they smile back or talk to her. John and I are not sure how we ended up with such an extroverted child.<br /><br />We are all enjoying Cate's first Mardi Gras. She went to her first parade last weekend and was an excellent sport despite staying up past her bedtime. This weekend, we are trying to make sure that Cate gets plenty of good naps in so that she will be in a good mood for all the parade action.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SaAnsO-PjcI/AAAAAAAAAPo/G2meyld1Dak/s1600-h/2-21-09+039.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SaAnsO-PjcI/AAAAAAAAAPo/G2meyld1Dak/s320/2-21-09+039.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5305284001929334210" border="0" /></a>Cate's first parade.<br /><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SaAn7AMB19I/AAAAAAAAAPw/B06PnghJ4B4/s1600-h/2-21-09+047.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SaAn7AMB19I/AAAAAAAAAPw/B06PnghJ4B4/s320/2-21-09+047.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5305284255658661842" border="0" /></a>Going to a parade with a baby requires some interesting skills.<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SaAoLWFB4EI/AAAAAAAAAP4/4ADCMQr_1TE/s1600-h/2-21-09+021.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SaAoLWFB4EI/AAAAAAAAAP4/4ADCMQr_1TE/s320/2-21-09+021.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5305284536412790850" border="0" /></a>You can never tell which part of the pacifier Cate will find most enticing.<br /></div></div></div>Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-53681847858258095532008-10-31T10:32:00.001-05:002008-11-15T10:53:50.484-06:00Happy Halloween!<div style="text-align: justify;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SR762TRFu2I/AAAAAAAAAOM/fh3MYUsR97M/s1600-h/10-31-08+093.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SR762TRFu2I/AAAAAAAAAOM/fh3MYUsR97M/s320/10-31-08+093.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5268924424861891426" border="0" /></a>The end of October was pretty busy in the McCammon household. Cate and I are very proud of him. Our regular baby-sitter Sam was already schedule to come today, so I got to join John for a celebratory lunch downtown with some of his co-workers. Now that Cate is down for the night, we are continuing the celebration by sitting on the couch, drinking beer, and watching football...this is what counts as excitement when you have a five month old!<br /></div>Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-33285336548905151872008-10-02T09:32:00.000-05:002008-10-10T19:38:29.268-05:00Rolling Over<div style="text-align: justify;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SOPlJedGnFI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/qG4cWfOpRVs/s1600-h/9-29-08+014.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SOPlJedGnFI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/qG4cWfOpRVs/s320/9-29-08+014.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5252293541400845394" border="0" /></a>In this picture, Cate is all ready for the Saints game with her Saints onesie and Saints socks. If you look closely, you can also see Ford pouting in the background!<br /><br />At Cate's 3-month checkup (she was actually closer to 3 1/2 months), the pediatrician asked if Cate had shown any signs of rolling over. At the time, Cate was showing absolutely no interest in rolling over. After all, she is perfectly content to be on her back and when she is on her stomach, she is generally too hysterical to even consider rolling over (Cate HATES tummy time). However, Cate suddenly rolled over on Sunday morning!<br /><br />We were having morning playtime on the floor and when I put Cate on her stomach, she immediately rolled to her back. I thought maybe I had just put her in a funny position, so I put her on her stomach again...and she immediately rolled over! After she did it one more time, I decided this was the real thing and woke John up. Of course, once John was up and watching, Cate wouldn't roll over again. However, she rolled over several more times on Monday morning and John caught the action this time.<br /><br />On Wednesday, Cate had her 4-month old checkup (she is actually about 4 1/2 months). The pediatrician said that although Cate remains on the petite side, she is doing great. Her stats this months are:<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Height: 22.5 inches (5th percentile)<br />Weight: 11 lbs. Then she played on the floor and in her bouncy seat while Allison and John ate breakfast and while Allison ironed a shirt for John to wear to work (what a wonderful wife!). About the time John left for work, Cate was ready to go down for her morning nap. She took a nap from 8:30 to 10. When Cate woke up, Allison and Cate got ready to go to playgroup at Children's Hospital. Allison and Cate went to playgroup from 10:30 to 12. The first thing Cate did ate playgroup was eat...she often wants to eat or sleep instead of playing! After playgroup, Allison and Cate ran a few errands. By the time they got home at 1:30, Cate was ready for a bottle and another nap. Cate's second nap lasted from 1:50 pm to 4:30 pm. When Cate woke up at 4:30 pm, she had another bottle (that was a long nap, after all!) and then Cate and Allison went to the dry cleaners on their way to the park. At the park, Cate and Allison walked for a while and then stopped to put a blanket down on the grass and play. When they got back from the park at 6:00, Cate had another bottle, followed by her nighttime bath. After her bath, Cate got a baby massage, was swaddled, and (yep, you guessed it) had another bottle. Cate was asleep by 7:00 pm.<br /><br />Cate must have known that I was going to write about today because she was a wonderful, wonderful baby today! Most days don't go quite this smoothly, particularly in the nap department. Other things that were notable about today are that Cate weighed 10 lbs, 12 ounces and that she only wore one outfit today (reflux is still a problem...she went through five outfits yesterday!).<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SNBcBRZUeKI/AAAAAAAAAJw/llxLOvTPAAo/s1600-h/8-19-08+100.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SNBcBRZUeKI/AAAAAAAAAJw/llxLOvTPAAo/s320/8-19-08+100.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5246794742805854370" border="0" /></a><br />UPDATE: In celebration of being four months old, Cate slept through the night! She slept from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.!!!! Let's hope this is going to become a regular thing!<br /><br /></div>Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-40547275033796185942008-09-01T11:45:00.000-05:002008-09-01T11:49:21.229-05:00Evacuation Plan in ActionJust wanted to give everyone an update on where we are....we left New Orleans at 3:30 am on Saturday morning and headed to Birmingham. Although it was tough to get up and leave that early, it didn't take us any longer than usual to get here, so it was definitely worth it. In contrast, friends of ours left New Orleans at 11:30am yesterday (Sunday) and it took them nearly 14 hours to get here (it is normally a 5.5 - 6 hour drive). So far, it looks like the damage to New Orleans isn't too bad, but we are not sure yet when we will be headed home. For now, we are hanging out in Birmingham!Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-74264226568475912952008-08-28T10:00:00.000-05:002008-08-28T10:06:27.129-05:00Evacuation Plan<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SLa-1y1QNhI/AAAAAAAAAJg/DFzeV3PfSt0/s1600-h/gustav.gif"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SLa-1y1QNhI/AAAAAAAAAJg/DFzeV3PfSt0/s320/gustav.gif" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239585047879628306" border="0" /></a><br />Although we are waiting until tomorrow to make a final decision on whether evacuation will be necessary, I wanted to go ahead and post our evacuation plan. We are fortunate to have good friends in Birmingham who have often opened their home to John, Mr. Biscuit, Ford and me, and they have been kind enough to make room for one more this time (Cate!). We will make a decision sometime tomorrow (Friday) and if evacuation is necessary, we will most likely evacuate either very early Saturday or very early Sunday. Hopefully we will not have any problems with our cell phones, but in the event that we do, John and I can always be contacted by email or by leaving a comment on the blog.Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-19803220910669401822008-08-09T10:47:00.000-05:002008-08-09T11:31:31.234-05:00Growing, Growing, Growing<div style="text-align: justify;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3BwagZrdI/AAAAAAAAAIg/P5RWLZf7Suw/s1600-h/7-15-08+001.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3BwagZrdI/AAAAAAAAAIg/P5RWLZf7Suw/s200/7-15-08+001.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232551379567488466" border="0" /></a>The last month and a half has been a very busy time for us. John sat for the Louisiana bar exam in late July, so Allison and Cate went to the beach with Cakki for a week in mid-July so that John could concentrate on studying. Unfortunately, Cate picked that week to go through a very cranky phase, and the only way to soothe her was to rock her in the hammock on the balcony. However, it was good to get the first "traveling with baby" experience over with!<br /><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3CHl-Y-WI/AAAAAAAAAIo/CCpwBPqFojU/s1600-h/8-8-08+001.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3CHl-Y-WI/AAAAAAAAAIo/CCpwBPqFojU/s200/8-8-08+001.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232551777783052642" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">When Allison and Cate returned from the beach, John's mom (Nana) had arrived for a visit. Nana was a tremendous help while John was taking the bar and kept all of us well-fed. Nana also helped us establish a successful bedtime routine for Cate that works almost every night. Between 7 and 8 p.m., Cate gets a bath, a swaddle, a song, and a bottle, and generally falls asleep quickly. One night, it worked too well and Cate fell asleep in the bath!<br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3CbghT31I/AAAAAAAAAIw/zLMhBuv4fzE/s1600-h/8-8-08+043.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3CbghT31I/AAAAAAAAAIw/zLMhBuv4fzE/s200/8-8-08+043.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232552119916289874" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Cate had her first set of immunizations at about 2 1/2 months old....this might have been more traumatic for Allison than it was for Cate. Cate cried for a few minutes when she got the shots, but was quickly distracted by a bottle. She was fussy for a few days, but she has definitely been fussier lately, so it was hard to tell how much of the fussiness was actually due to the shots. As of July 31, Cate's statistics were:<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Weight: 8 lbs, 15.5 oz (5th percentile)<br /><br />Height: 21 inches (5th percentile)<br /><br />Head Circumference: 36.5 cm (~5th percentile)<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">We took our second trip with Cate during the first weekend in August. We traveled to Montgomery for the wedding of our friends Andrea and Sam. Allison was a bridesmaid, so Cakki and Pepere came along to help John take care of Cate while Allison was busy fulfilling her bridesmaid duties. It was a beautiful wedding and we all had a good time. Being away from home seemed to wear Cate out, though, as she slept the entire ride home!<br /><br />Overall, Cate continues to be a pretty good baby. We are working on getting her to sleep longer at night and take more consistent naps during the day, both of which seem to make a dramatic difference in her mood. However, it is amazing how quickly she sometimes goes from this:<br /></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3BIASwcEI/AAAAAAAAAIY/pCC4anVDq5U/s1600-h/8-8-08+048.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3BIASwcEI/AAAAAAAAAIY/pCC4anVDq5U/s200/8-8-08+048.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232550685336170562" border="0" /></a><br />To this!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3AiYBJ0JI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/kDZXBjtkdLE/s1600-h/8-8-08+047.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3AiYBJ0JI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/kDZXBjtkdLE/s200/8-8-08+047.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232550038869758098" border="0" /></a><br />A few more recent pictures of Cate:<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3DRpTn7hI/AAAAAAAAAI4/TpXfimQWHHY/s1600-h/8-8-08+021.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3DRpTn7hI/AAAAAAAAAI4/TpXfimQWHHY/s200/8-8-08+021.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232553049987739154" border="0" /></a>Cate relaxing in the boppy.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3FKdiwOMI/AAAAAAAAAJY/RKc37lqKQvk/s1600-h/8-8-08+030.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3FKdiwOMI/AAAAAAAAAJY/RKc37lqKQvk/s200/8-8-08+030.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232555125594142914" border="0" /></a>Cate waking up from a nap.<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3D1JjzZWI/AAAAAAAAAJI/OkFIy2L6P08/s1600-h/8-8-08+040.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3D1JjzZWI/AAAAAAAAAJI/OkFIy2L6P08/s200/8-8-08+040.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232553659940955490" border="0" /></a>Cate with Nana.<br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3EJvnhfWI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/A5gU9GDaxSI/s1600-h/8-8-08+056.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SJ3EJvnhfWI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/A5gU9GDaxSI/s200/8-8-08+056.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232554013754490210" border="0" /></a>Cate tries out her new Bumbo seat...note, it was John's idea to prop up the bottle!<br /></div>Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-42287059922470089782008-06-22T18:19:00.001-05:002008-06-22T18:53:14.735-05:00Cate Is One Month Old!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SF7ibXEByRI/AAAAAAAAAHM/EnP0MTObq2U/s1600-h/Cate+playing.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SF7ibXEByRI/AAAAAAAAAHM/EnP0MTObq2U/s320/Cate+playing.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214854378216868114" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">It's hard to believe, but Cate is one month old already. Cate and Allison stayed in the hospital until Tuesday and John stayed with them every night, even though it involved sleeping on a very uncomfortable fold out chair. Before she left the hospital, Cate had a number of visitors who were very excited to meet her. Allison's mom (Cakki) and dad (Papa Mike) met Cate, as did Uncle James and Aunt Donna. Aunt Donna came back again on Monday and Cate got to meet her cousins, Jordan and Colin.<br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDi8c1z0OJI/AAAAAAAAAFs/GlbdOh_LtM4/s1600-h/Going+home+outfit.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDi8c1z0OJI/AAAAAAAAAFs/GlbdOh_LtM4/s200/Going+home+outfit.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204116573093378194" border="0" /></a>We were all excited to go home on Tuesday, but as usual, Cate was on her own schedule and delayed our departure for a few hours by not being able to keep her temperature <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDi-DFz0OKI/AAAAAAAAAF0/3gheLVqDwW0/s1600-h/carseat+too+big.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDi-DFz0OKI/AAAAAAAAAF0/3gheLVqDwW0/s200/carseat+too+big.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204118329735002274" border="0" /></a>up. Fortunately, some extra swaddling did the trick and we were home shortly after lunch. Our next obstacle is that we didn't realize that Cate's tiny size meant that even preemie clothes were way too big for her. However, we did the best we could....until we realized that she is also too small for the carseat.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDi-vFz0OMI/AAAAAAAAAGE/IPbj7sRTYL8/s1600-h/Cate+going+to+doctor.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDi-vFz0OMI/AAAAAAAAAGE/IPbj7sRTYL8/s200/Cate+going+to+doctor.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204119085649246402" border="0" /></a>Cate's first outing was on Wednesday when Allison and John took her to the pediatrician's office. Because of her small size, the doctor wanted to make sure that Cate did not lose any additional weight (she had reached a low point of 3 pounds, 9 ounces on Monday). Allison and John were very pleased that Cate was back up to 4 pounds on Wednesday. According to the pediatrician, Cate is very small (less than the 5th percentile in both height and weight), but otherwise is in great shape.<br /><br />Cakki and Allison took Cate to the doctor again on Thursday for an additional weight check. Cate continued her excellent progress by putting on an additional ounce. Later that day, Allison left the house for the first time without Cate so that she and John could go to Babies R Us and buy even more baby stuff.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDi_Dlz0ONI/AAAAAAAAAGM/HgngtN3oIeo/s1600-h/dad+gives+a+bath.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDi_Dlz0ONI/AAAAAAAAAGM/HgngtN3oIeo/s200/dad+gives+a+bath.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204119437836564690" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDjAEFz0OPI/AAAAAAAAAGc/uNUqnSmYlXk/s1600-h/post+bath.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDjAEFz0OPI/AAAAAAAAAGc/uNUqnSmYlXk/s200/post+bath.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204120545938127090" border="0" /></a>On Friday, Cate had her first bath at home in anticipation of the arrival of Pepere (Allison's stepdad) and Aunt Laura. She weighed 4 pounds, 0.2 ounces and was 17.5 inches long. Cate came into the world screaming much louder than either John or Allison thought was possible for something so small, but since then has been a very good-natured baby. Because of her small size and because she was a few weeks early, the doctors were concerned about her ability to breathe, eat, and maintain her temperature. Fortunately, she did not have any trouble breathing (as evidenced by her screaming) and seems to be a good eater. She has had a little trouble maintaining her temperature, so our little girl spends most of her time double swaddled with at least one hat on...not an outfit you see very often in May in New Orleans!<br /><br />Here are a few pictures from the 16th...<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDh8OVz0OAI/AAAAAAAAAEk/HypEYyLejrA/s1600-h/John+as+doctor.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 223px; height: 168px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDh8OVz0OAI/AAAAAAAAAEk/HypEYyLejrA/s320/John+as+doctor.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204045955241097218" border="0" /></a>John shows off his scrubs.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: right;"><div style="text-align: left;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDh_Clz0OGI/AAAAAAAAAFU/FhJFPdturp4/s1600-h/Allison+and+Cate.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDh_Clz0OGI/AAAAAAAAAFU/FhJFPdturp4/s200/Allison+and+Cate.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204049051912517730" border="0" /></a>Allison meets Baby Cate.<br /></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><br /></span><div style="text-align: left;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDh88Fz0OCI/AAAAAAAAAE0/f-4t3MhGVak/s1600-h/Cate+exhausted.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDh88Fz0OCI/AAAAAAAAAE0/f-4t3MhGVak/s200/Cate+exhausted.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204046741220112418" border="0" /></a>Cate is exhausted by all that screaming.<br /></div></div><br /><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDh_U1z0OHI/AAAAAAAAAFc/8P1ev8zXEdc/s1600-h/John+and+flying+nun+Cate.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SDh_U1z0OHI/AAAAAAAAAFc/8P1ev8zXEdc/s200/John+and+flying+nun+Cate.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204049365445130354" border="0" /></a>Cate shows off her "flying nun" outfit....yes, the sleeves on her newborn-sized shirt really are that long.Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-38415397593462577992008-05-01T19:56:00.000-05:002008-05-01T20:31:58.193-05:0034 Weeks, 2 Days<div style="text-align: justify;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SBptd7iBv_I/AAAAAAAAAEc/x0co8xww89s/s1600-h/Picture+010.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SBptd7iBv_I/AAAAAAAAAEc/x0co8xww89s/s400/Picture+010.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195585481089335282" border="0" /></a>So what have you been doing for the past three weeks and two days? Bet you didn't spend it in the hospital! Yep, Allison has spent the last three weeks and two days in a labor and delivery room at the hospital hooked up to a fetal heart rate monitor. When she was first admitted on April 9 (at 31 weeks, 1 day), the doctors hoped to delay delivering the baby for at least 48 hours to give the steroids a chance to help mature the baby's lungs. After we made it 48 hours, the doctors starting aiming for 32 weeks. Once we got past 32 weeks, they starting shooting for 34 weeks. On Monday (at 33 weeks, 6 days), the doctor tentatively scheduled a c-section for Allison for Thursday late afternoon, but this baby has surprised us again. According to this morning's ultrasound, she has continued to grow and has exceeded the doctor's expectations about how cases like this one usually go. So, instead of having a c-section, Allison gets to go home tomorrow! Granted, she will still be on bedrest and will have to return to the hospital three times next week for monitoring, but resting at home with DirecTV seems a lot more appealing to Allison at this point than continuing to count the ceiling tiles in LDR 5. That's not to say that Allison's time in the hospital hasn't been educational. For example,<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">1. The hospital has one male labor and delivery nurse. He looks like <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_ia/article/0,,FOOD_16696_2761051,00.html">Mario Batali</a>. <img src="file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/AMCCAM%7E1/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-5.jpg" alt="" /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_ia/article/0,,FOOD_16696_2761051,00.html"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/SBpsuLiBv-I/AAAAAAAAAEU/ZuHziT7F5Cc/s400/contentThumb_mario.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5195584660750581730" border="0" /></a>2. It is possible to be allergic to ultrasound gel.<br />3. It is possible to get sick of eating mashed potatoes.<br />4. Labor and delivery wards really are more active around a full moon.<br />5. The first weekend of Jazz Fest is not a popular time to deliver a baby.<br />6. Dr. Chou aggressively banging on Allison's stomach with the ultrasound device will not, in fact, wake up the baby.<br />7. Some perinatalogists have more personality than others...some have none at all.<br />8. There is not a single correct clock on the entire labor and delivery ward.<br />9. When you are walking around the labor and delivery ward in your PJs and you see someone you used to work with, the appropriate strategy is to pretend not to see them.<br />10. When Allison's mother has a fight with one of the nurses, it will be noted in Allison's chart.<br /><br />Clearly, it has been an interesting few weeks. If you want the whole story, please feel free to email John or Allison, but be prepared to be impressed by all the new medical terms that they have learned.<br /></div>Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-37467003334061122102008-03-29T13:02:00.000-05:002008-03-29T13:15:42.117-05:0029 Weeks<div style="text-align: justify;">We are getting closer and closer to being ready for the arrival of this little girl. Thanks to a wonderful baby shower given by Allison's friends and many generous gifts, we have just about everything we need (we think!) to take care of her. Of course, we don't want Ford to feel left out of this process, so we let him take a spin in the new stroller....<br /></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/R-6HCSnViKI/AAAAAAAAADU/W8sC_xPpNL4/s1600-h/baby+shower+004.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/R-6HCSnViKI/AAAAAAAAADU/W8sC_xPpNL4/s320/baby+shower+004.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5183228694576335010" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">In other news, the nursery is just about finished. The walls are painted, the crib is put together, and the closet is full of baby clothes. All we have left is to pick out some decorations for the walls.<br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">We have our final "prepared childbirth" class on Tuesday night. The nurse who is leading the class has been quite funny and has dispensed important non-medical advice such as her recommendation that dads not bring Popeye's to the hospital while the moms are in labor, unless they want to be yelled at. John has assured me that he will wait to bring the Popeye's until after the baby is born.<br /></div>Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-66664468870726485242008-03-18T22:04:00.000-05:002008-03-18T22:16:03.296-05:0027 Weeks<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/R-CEt7U4kgI/AAAAAAAAAC8/GJybFj_8dmQ/s1600-h/Ultrasound+3-7+%231.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/R-CEt7U4kgI/AAAAAAAAAC8/GJybFj_8dmQ/s200/Ultrasound+3-7+%231.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179285496030335490" border="0" /></a><br />A lot has happened in the past few weeks....John got to feel the baby kick for the first time, the nursery was painted, and we had two ultrasounds. The first ultrasound was on March 7 with the perinatologist. The perinatologist, or maternal fetal medicine specialist, confirmed that our baby girl's growth is on target overall. He took measurements of her arms, legs, waist, and head, but failed to acknowledge that she is the most beautiful and perfect baby that he has ever seen...an inadvertent oversight, I am sure.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/R-CE3bU4khI/AAAAAAAAADE/EXeDHFAZ-44/s1600-h/Picture+017.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/R-CE3bU4khI/AAAAAAAAADE/EXeDHFAZ-44/s200/Picture+017.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179285659239092754" border="0" /></a>The second ultrasound was on March 14 at a local 3D/4D ultrasound center. Allison's mom came in town for this ultrasound and we all enjoyed watching the baby move around, yawn, stick out her tongue, and suck her thumb. Even though the baby managed to keep her hands in front of her face for pretty much the whole ultrasound, she forgot to keep her legs crossed, so we were able to confirm that she is indeed, a girl.Allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13283616541112506262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574387796771279657.post-60682335308768517892008-02-19T17:29:00.000-06:002008-03-03T17:49:42.639-06:0024 Weeks<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/R8yOMEsO8AI/AAAAAAAAAC0/78cLehjHp1E/s1600-h/Her_Crib.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8b4-78JYREs/R8yOMEsO8AI/AAAAAAAAAC0/78cLehjHp1E/s200/Her_Crib.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5173666410010701826" border="0" /></a>Allison is 24 weeks along and we are working on getting ready for the baby.
